Etsy has provided a fantastic channel to express myself artistically as I enter a new phase of my life.
By day, I'm retirement coach, professor, and writer based in sunny Palm Springs, California (www.nourseleadership.com). Because my Mom and Dad were originally from the west, I knew that eventually I would move from Washington DC and head for California. I realized this dream in 2017 after spending most of my life on the east coast. Exceptional beauty surrounds me in this town - mountains, sunsets, mid-century modern design, and very creative people.
I turned 60 in 2023, and after working as a coach for nearly 25 years, I realized it was time to reinvent myself by integrating long-lost passions into my work. As a kid and into early adulthood, I loved art - especially oil painting. In my mid-40s, I began to take impressionist oil painting classes in Cape Cod. I loved the experience of painting landscapes outside and studying the styles and techniques of my teachers.
My Mom, Maggie, inspired me at an early age to express myself artistically. She painted, sewed, and practiced ikebana (traditional Japanese flower arranging). Sadly, she died too soon at age 65 in 1996. I've studied her art over the years since her death to keep her spirit alive.
My shop focuses on offering shirts and mugs that have a campy and retro vibe in a number of categories.
