A brief insight into the Magical Art of Hand-Made Glass:
The intricate process of creating these individual unique pieces starts by selecting the finest components and materials that are carefully blended and heated at 2400°F (1315°C), where the transformation into glass takes place. The temperature is then carefully reduced in order for the molten glass to become workable for the craftsmen to then skilfully Gather, Blow an Work It using Centuries Old Techniques and Tools.
Glassblowing involves three furnaces - the "Crucible" which contains the molten glass, the "Glory Hole" which is used to reheat a piece between steps and "Lehr" or "Annealer" used for cooling the glass over a period of a few hours or days depending on the size of the item. Some small bubbles or cords and minor variations in design or size can occur during these complex processes. How small these imperfections are, is what separates them from faults, and is indeed a source of pride and testament to the skill and eye of the craftsmen.
Our final item shapes are particularly difficult to create which only Master Craftsmen can produce. Each of these pieces then go on to be hand-decorated using various methods such as cutting, sandblasting, polishing, hand-painting or decorating, relief carving, crystal element setting and many more closely guarded techniques.
With a passionate and innovative design team, our unique and original decorations have taken many years to create and perfect - gaining great admiration throughout the industry.
Glass making is a truly captivating craft and we hope you enjoy our pieces as much as we have enjoyed creating them for you.
