Hi there and welcome!
My name is Dan - I am an Emergency Medicine resident physician in training, and create art as a creative hobby.
Growing up in Minnesota, I spent a lot of time exploring the lakes, hiking, and waterskiing with my family and two younger brothers.
In college I studied Studio Art and Biology with the hopes of becoming a physician one day. My classes in graphic design, photography, and painting helped me grow as a creative.
I attended medical school at the University of Minnesota - Duluth campus, and spent time training in rural hospitals around the state of Minnesota and exploring the North Shore. I was incredibly lucky to match into the specialty of Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where I am currently completing my third year of residency training.
It has been a challenge to keep my creative work alive during the last several years of my life during medical school and residency. I could try to rationalize creating this Etsy page as a way to pay off my mountain ($250,000+) of student loans, but the truth is that doing creative work just charges me up. It helps me feel like I am living a well-rounded life.
I like to think that someone might stumble across this page and find some art they would like have around their home. That possibility is tremendously motivating for me. So while creating art certainly takes a lot of time and effort, it makes me happier and more satisfied with my life.
