Get to know me and my work!
BIOGRAPHY
Hi ! My name is Beata and I live in Poland.
In 2020, during the pandemic time, working remotely and in home confinement, wanting to get away and rest from working on the computer, I returned after years to sketching, painting with paints, crocheting. In this difficult time for everyone around the world, I was looking for peace, breath and new perspectives. Browsing the internet I came across beautifully woven kilims that immediately stole my heart.
So I put my paints and brushes aside and tried my hand at weaving with a special needle with sheep wool on a linen base.
This work was incredibly creative, relaxing, even meditative. It has stayed with me to this day. In every free moment after work, I sit at my desk and weave.
I try to create according to my interests, I draw inspiration from the works of contemporary ceramists, I admire the works of famous sculptors, their works are my inspiration. I am inspired by such world artists as Barbara Hepworth, Islamu Noguchi, Henry Moore.
I admire the world-famous Sheile Hicks and the great Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz.
Initially, my audience was family, friends, acquaintances and friends of friends. After these two years, I lost myself in this passion so much that I decided to quit my full-time job and devote myself to my passion completely.
I am opening a page with my work here , I invite you to watch it , share your opinions and of course to buy .
I hope that my works will find a new home and will enjoy the eye of buyers for many years, behind each painting there are many hours of manual weaving, searching for ideas, selecting materials, it's an art of huge heart for people with a big heart and sensitivity.
Hi, my name is Beata. I am a Pole who currently resides in Vienna and I am a self-taught artist.
In 2020, I started creating textile paintings, the art with which I have always been indirectly related to (my father is a painter and sculptor), was my response to the growing anxiety because of the pandemic.
The slow weaving of woolen yarn through linen cloths makes the hands work and the mind rest. It gives me the ultimate mental relaxation, almost meditative, which is difficult to achieve in today’s fast-paced world.
The pandemic has passed, and my fascination with textile art remains and continues to deepen throughout time.
2021 in Vienna was the time when I visited an enormous exhibition of the famous textile artist Sheila Hicks. Her work enchanted me and confirmed my beliefs about the path I intended to follow.
I draw inspiration from the works of famous sculptors. I adore the work of artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Isamu Noguchi, Henry Moore, and the world-famous Polish textile artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, as well as the prior-mentioned Sheila Hicks.
As a self-taught artist, I follow my intuition and my mood. When I fall into melancholy, I create monochromatic and minimalist creations, and other times, when I am euphoric, my creations are vibrant and garish. I use mixed techniques, which include sheep wool, acrylic paint, and metal leaves on one canvas. These are the main features of the newest collection, which will be released soon in 2024.
