It all started over dinner.
I've always been a crafty person. When I'd see something I like in stores, I'd go home and try to do it myself instead. But the first time I got crazy with crafting was for my wedding. I made SO much for my wedding by myself (with a little help from some great friends!). I made the programs for the ceremony. I decorated vases for the cocktail hour. I designed centerpieces for the reception. I made ribbon wands for the church exit. I put together bathroom baskets. I made place cards. I made hangers for my bridesmaids. I put together flip flops with size tags in a basket for the dance floor. I designed my own candy bar. I went nuts.
As my husband and I were sitting at our two year anniversary dinner, he asked why I never tried to make any money off of all the stuff I made. It had never occurred to me. I was already super busy as a 4th grade teacher with a Teachers Pay Teachers store (Over the Rainbow in 4th Grade). But I figured, why not??
A few days later, our living room was transformed into craft central. The rest is history! I'm still teaching full time, but Etsy has become a major passion project and part time job. It's so exciting knowing that items I make are putting a smile on my customer's faces. And I'm super thankful for my husband. If it weren't for him, I never would have went out on a limb to create this shop. Plus, he serves as a really great assistant when I'm super swamped!
