Caddo Beadwork from the Heart of Oklahoma’s Thirty-Nine Tribal Nations.
Hello, and welcome. My name is Jennifer Reeder (Nish Nat'tih), and I'm a citizen of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma.
For the Caddo people, art has always been more than adornment, it is a way of preserving identity, honoring our ancestors, and carrying our stories forward. Historically, the Caddo homelands stretched across what is now eastern Texas, southern Arkansas, western Louisiana, and southeastern Oklahoma. Through generations of change and adversity, our culture has endured because our people continued to create, teach, and share.
Beadwork is one of those living traditions.
The art of beadwork has been passed down through my family for generations. Every piece I create is rooted in that legacy and serves as a connection between the past and the present. While my work reflects contemporary Native fashion and design, it is deeply inspired by Caddo culture, history, and beliefs. I spend countless hours researching traditional materials, colors, symbolism, and techniques to ensure that my work honors those who came before me.
My hope is that when you wear one of my creations, you carry with you not only a beautiful piece of art, but also a deeper appreciation for the enduring strength, creativity, and spirit of Native people.
