Hobby, to necessity, to a future.
We started selling personalised gifts in Leeds back in March 2020 on Facebook, soon afterwards we started to sell our gifts under the banner of Omade and Personal.
The Omade part of the business name comes from a play on the words Home Made as our Yorkshire roots there is no H in home.
Although this business started off from a hobby it soon turned into a necessity to support our family of 4 whilst on maternity leave with our second child.
After returning to work full time we decided to keep the business going and we now run the business on evenings and weekends, so if your wondering why dispatch notifications are coming through at midnight its because we do the majority of the work when the kids are in bed, well when they actually sleep.
We first signed up to Etsy in late 2020 with only a few items as we where concentrating on the busy Christmas period on Facebook, but in February 2021 we began concentrating on promoting our items on Etsy, although If I could have given myself one piece of advice back in March 2020 it would have been to sell on Etsy at the beginning instead of waiting nearly a year.
The products we sell are mainly engraved wood house hold items, crafted plywood items and printed acrylic items. All our products are fully personalised and we can create designs to suit nearly any occasion...even if it is a gift to yourself.
Looking to the future we are hoping to launch our website in July 2021, we have been building the site on and off since January 2021, but with both working full time, family life and fulfilling orders it has been put on the back burners for now.
In the future the dream is for Omade and Personal to be our main income allowing us to quit our current jobs and concentrate on our family business, whether we get to a point of the business providing enough income to allow us to do this..well time will tell but if we don't try we will never know.
