About SunRain Prism Suncatchers
I'm John, a retired engineer in Omaha, Nebraska, and I make something you've never quite seen before.
Each SunRain suncatcher is a handmade crystal prism piece that does more than hang in a window — it transforms sunlight into vivid, shifting rainbows that sweep across your walls, floors, and ceilings throughout the day. The light moves with the sun. The colors change with the seasons. No two moments look the same.
I started SunRain after retiring from a career in engineering. I'd always had a love for how light works — optics, refraction, the physics of color. When I began experimenting with premium lead-crystal prisms and epoxy resin, I discovered I could design pieces that don't just catch the sun. They scatter it everywhere.
Every suncatcher is assembled by hand in my workshop. I select each crystal prism individually, cast the resin center myself, and test how the piece throws light, all before polishing and shipping. There's real engineering behind the art — the prism arrangement, the angles, the materials — all chosen to maximize the rainbow effect.
These aren't decorations. They're light installations you hang in a window.
SunRain suncatchers have found homes in sunny rooms across the country. They make meaningful gifts because they change a room — not just how it looks, but how it feels.
Custom colors are always welcome. Just message me with what you're imagining.
