Twists and Turns

Purplecat Creatives had been in existence for several years selling sculptures before we created the PCApothecary Project. That started when the recession hit and my husband's job disappeared. Like so many other families, we found ourselves facing a frightening and unsure future.
My youngest daughter Aurora has severe eczema, and with fewer funds we found it difficult to afford the quality skin products she needed. Most scented skin products contain alcohol which is murder on skin like hers. There simply weren't any scented products out there she could use. I've always loved perfumes and fragrance, so that aspect was an absolute joy to discover talent in. Being young, she also asked if she could 'smell pretty' like mom.
PCApothecary became a wondrous success, becoming the backbone of Purplecat Creatives as it is today. A project with started with a simple body butter for a six year old unfurled into a product line carrying soaps, scrubs and perfumes.
Chris (my hubby) pitched in to help troubleshoot, develop consistent technique for quality and currently does most of our mixing. We both work two jobs, raise three kids and have a special place in our lives for this store we've built together over the last few years. It may be hectic, but we wouldn't trade it for anything.
I still create a variety of sculptures and sketches. It's thrilling to have a variety of explorations to offer the customers who shop with us. I love creating too much to settle on just one product type anyway.
Thanks so much for reading!
