Ross Cavins
Owner, Creator, Designer
My name is Ross Cavins: author, computer programmer, web designer, thrifting whore. I've always been drawn to the steampunk industrial look. And I love creating pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely functional. No matter what I do, I must be creating something or I'm not happy. Whether that means I'm crafting quirky characters, writing tricky code, designing unique logos, or upcycling previously unused, unwanted items into a single functional piece, it's the "creative process" and knowledge that others will enjoy my handiwork that keeps me motivated. And while others may copy my designs, they will never match my attention to detail. I strive to provide unique creations that become conversation pieces in your home. This Etsy store will combine all of my lifelong loves. I truly hope you enjoy my work.

Frequently asked questions
About the wood I use
Remember, because Mother Nature makes wood, every piece is very different. I love to use reclaimed wood as much as possible. And when I do have to buy my wood "new," I don't get it at a box store because they never have unique pieces of wood (95% of their wood is pine). I go to a local lumber specialty place where I have a bountiful choice of gorgeous, quality wood. Bottom line, I like all my pieces to have character, and I won't let one leave my shop unless I'd use it in my own house.
About the pipe I use
Here's what I do to the pipe that others may not: 1) Clean all residue and dirt off it, 2) Sand it down, 3) Prime it with high quality Rustoleum rust protectant, 4) Coat with a uniform color of paint (but some of the prime may show through in spots ... I like this because it adds depth to the pipe), 5) Apply at least 2 coats of clear enamel coating. All of this takes time and elbow grease, but I feel it's necessary so your piece lasts a lifetime.
About future rust
Even though I coat my piping with hard enamel clear-coating, it will eventually wear down after years of use. When this happens you may begin to see rust form. I recommend leaving the rust on for character. Or you can lightly rub the rust off with a soft rag, water and dish soap ... then spray with clear-coat again.
Cleaning and care
Because everything is coated with clear enamel, all you have to do is wipe with a damp cloth. You shouldn't need any special cleaners. If you do need something, use simple dish detergent and rub lightly.
All of my pipes/fittings are without "CHINA" stamps
I work directly with the factory on all my pipes and fittings. None of them are stamped with "MADE IN CHINA" or "CHINA" or any Chinese characters (unlike pieces at your local big box store or most sellers). My pipes are aesthetically pleasing because that's what you're looking for, right?
