For years, my life was measured in measures—rehearsals, performances, and the precise vibration of the viola. Look, I spent way too many years of my life sitting in the middle of an orchestra being told to play "slightly more piano" while wearing a polyester tux.
But as any musician knows, the paper we play from eventually gathers dust. I started Recovering Musician as a way to honor my history while exploring a new medium.
I take vintage sheet music—pieces I’ve actually sweated over, bled on, or cursed at—and smother them in professional watercolors. The notes underneath provide the rhythm, and the paint provides the melody.
This shop is a celebration of my queer-as-hell life, my love-hate relationship with classical music, and my firm belief that everything looks better with a little bit of sass and a lot of pigment.
If you’re looking for "Live, Laugh, Love" energy, you’re in the wrong fucking place. But if you want original art that’s as loud, queer, and unapologetic as I am? Add to cart.
