Picking Up The Pieces
I started dabbling into jewelry mainly at first because I just never found what I'd really wanted to wear out or on stage performing and I really didn't want to have anything on that someone else had on while I was on stage. That disaster happened while on a really big gig when I wore a dress that four other girls came in with!!! Oh No!!!
So 4 months into jewelry making, Hurricane Katrina was bearing down on my home and family and we evacuated with a mad dash. Needless to say, yes, like everyone else we lost everything and was pretty much homeless. But I kicked it into survival mode and off we started onto the recovery journey.
I didn't want to loose my mind along with evrything else I'd lost and so I sank myself into the jewelry making realm and was then hooked and lost forever to this wonderful thereputic desire!!!
I created, and created, and created!! Pretty soon I'd had way too much jewelry and not enough room in the small home we were lucky enough to find and rent while repairing our home in "da parish" as we say!
One of my closest friends decided to throw me a jewelry party and the rest is history... once I'd started, no one would let me stop. Luckily its catching on and I've been making jewelry ever since, so far going into my 10th year.
Its a passion and creative outlet that gives me the tranquility and self satisfaction I'd been looking for all my life.
I enjoy making someone feel good about themself. Being a hairstylist of 23 years, that was a main desire and a singer since the age of 8, jewelry design had to be added to my creative world!
