This is my shop there are many like it, but this one is mine.
My name is Kyle Bee and I love to draw, sculpt, paint, and make things. I graduated from Kent State University with a BFA in Visual Communication Design. I enjoyed my illustration classes the most, but I took many design classes that gave me a decent eye for things like color, typography, and design principles.
Many describe my style as grotesque and I have to say I agree. Grotesque and lowbrow art is what i’m inspired by/ enjoy looking at the most. I’ve always loved drawing masks, faces and making my own characters. I mainly draw with micron pen and then watercolor to color the pen in. I don’t want to be held to just one medium though. Switching between projects using watercolor, acrylic, clay, screenprinting, and digital makes me think more creatively (I hope).
When I was a kid I drew a lot of yetis for some reason. After many drawings I simplified the yeti into creatures called the Bushmen. The Bushmen are a perfect way to have a character and put them in whatever situation or costume I want (I love to watch movies, so using movie or pop culture references to dress the characters up is super fun!). As for The Dark Woods, I decided that this is a place where all my creatures and critters come from. An all encompassing world for the characters to live in.
