Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to finish a custom painting?
In most cases, the answer is 3-4 weeks! Your painting may be ready sooner or later depending on how busy my schedule is and how many paintings I have on my waitlist. If you have a deadline that is only a week or two away, please contact me! I do have options for priority waitlist spots for an upcharge.
How do I pick the best photo of my pet?
The best photos are usually taken outdoors or in front of a window during the day time. Natural lighting is the best lighting for me to see your pet's fur and eye colors. Try to get a clear, crisp photo. The higher quality the photo, the better your painting will be. iPhone photos work great if taken in good lighting! I understand you may have limited photos if your pet has passed away. In that case, send me your favorites and we can decide together what will work best!
What if my painting is damaged during transit?
I package all my artwork with extreme care. However, in the unlikely event that a package becomes damaged during transit, please send me a photo of the damage immediately. I will cover the shipping costs for you to return the painting. If your damaged painting is a custom order, I will remake it at no extra cost.
How are your paintings packaged?
With extreme care! Small paintings will be wrapped in several layers of bubble-wrap and fit into a bubble mailer envelope for extra support.
For larger paintings, I hand-make custom boxes out of thick and sturdy foam board. These boxes are made to fit your painting exactly so there is no room for the painting to move around inside the box. Your painting will be wrapped in several layers of bubble-wrap and fit snugly inside the custom box. This box is then neatly wrapped like a present with thick shipping paper.
What is your revision policy for paintings?
Once the client’s portrait is completed and the artist sends a photo to request approval, the client may request one revision within reason for no additional cost.
Examples of revisions that are within reason include but are not limited to:
altering the pet’s eye color
adding/removing small details
adding the pet’s name to the portrait
Any changes that require the artist to start over any portion of the painting will be rejected. The artist can ultimately decide which changes are within reason.
After the first revision, each additional revision will cost an additional 10% upcharge.
If revisions are made and the client still rejects the portrait, the client will receive a 60% refund and the order will be cancelled.
