Hey, I’m Mark aka the Silly Man! I’m a professional trombonist, lifelong T-shirt lover, and I run Silly Man T-Shirts with my British wife, Jennifer.
So, What's in a Name?
Jennifer and I love funny movies, and years ago we watched Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. There’s a wonderfully ridiculous courtroom scene involving a plan to find a wealthy “Silly Man,” culminating in the judge declaring a man - the Silly Man!
We thought it was hilarious. The phrase stuck.
It didn't help that I was already driving Jennifer crazy with my jokes. Eventually she told me I should put them on T-shirts instead. So I did. 😂And Silly Man T-Shirts was born.
What started with silly sayings gradually became something much bigger. Jennifer brought her own ideas and designs into the shop, and we discovered that the shirts people enjoy with most weren't simply funny or beautiful — they said something about the person wearing them.
Because clothing can tell the world a little about who we are: our interests, our humor, our beliefs, the stories we love and the communities we belong to.
Today, we think of Silly Man T-Shirts as a house with lots of different rooms.
There’s the literary room - where Shakespeare, Jane Austen , Edgar Allen Poe and fellow book lovers gather.
Then there's the history and culture room, faith room, family room and naturally, there will always be room for the witty, irreverent and brilliantly silly
You may come through a different door, but the idea behind every collection is the same:
Wear what you stand for.
We create for that wonderful moment when someone sees your shirt, smiles and thinks:
You get it too.
And yes, I still come up with silly T-shirt ideas.
