Created out of the need for affordable, yet quality beard care and the desire to share it with others.
Silverback Grooming Company is a culmination of necessity, creativity, authenticity, and quality. Ever since I could grow full facial hair at the ripe Ol age of 16, I've enjoyed keeping a beard. I've always liked how beards looked, and I never did enjoy shaving one bit, so it's only natural for someone like me to be burly. The problem was that after having a beard for a certain time, it would reach a length at which it would become unmanageable. The skin underneath would become itchy, dry, and flaky. The beard itself would be coarse and dry, and the hairs would be wiry looking. I tried putting normal lotion or facial moisturizer on, but flaky skin was still a big problem and the hydration of the beard was still subpar. So, like many men who've grown a beard, I would shave it off or trim it back down extremely short to avoid the aforementioned problems. The unfortunate thing about having to trim or shave was that I've always wanted to be able to grow out a full, sizable, Viking-worthy beard.
Eventually I struck out on my own, usually keeping a beard on my face to help me through life. One day I was having some awesome daydreams about having a beard down to my belly button, and I got sad because I knew how dry and itchy a beard that length would be. But I was tired of giving up on dreams of a large, burly, beard, so I did what anyone would do in that situation. I got on Google and looked up ways to cure dryness and itchiness for beards. At that time beard oil had not taken off like it has now. I found info that pointed me in the right direction. People mentioned coconut oil, argon oil, castor oil, and everything in between. Through more research I found that the ancient Greeks and Egyptians actually treated their beards with different oils. I was intrigued and began experimenting on what I liked in my beard. I even found a couple companies that were selling beard oils, but I wasn't overly impressed with their product. I then found one of the now leading beard care companies of today. It was a little obscure back then, but I tried their product and I liked it a lot, but it was too pricey to justify buying multiple bottles over an extended period of time. So I decided to really do some research and come up with some blends I liked for myself. I began mixing and matching different carrier and essential oils until I had some blends that really took care of my beard. Over time I made little tweaks here and there and ended up with the formulas I have today. I realized that I could have a good chance at getting a business of my own going if I produced quality, but affordable items. I crunched some numbers, and actually put a lot of thought into my branding and got things going. After some time of selling items at small venues and on my Facebook page, I found a job I really love which caused me to put the business on the back burner. But it was always in my mind and it wasn't too long before I decided to really get into trying to get it to take off. So here we are today, really at the beginning of what I hope to be a successful dynasty and legacy in men's grooming. This is only the beginning, so stay tuned, and most of all, Stay Primal.
