I'm Sio, creator of/at Naiad. I'm from Trinidad & Tobago and I'm so excited to finally share my pieces with the Etsy community.
Sometimes people ask me how I got into making jewelry and I honestly have no clue. I've been making jewelry for as long as I can remember. I still have a necklace made of sea shells and bamboo that I made when I was probably 7 or 8.
As an island girl, I’m heavily inspired by all things beach related, I love DIYs, creating, and I (obviously) love jewelry. I especially love jewelry that doesn't fuss. I'm the kind of person who falls in love with a piece of jewelry and will wear it every day for months. This is how I fell in love with gold filled jewelry - Naiad was created shortly after this in 2014.
In Greek mythology, Naiad is the word for a water nymph goddess. Most of my jewelry is inspired by the beach vibe, but its specifically the combination of those chill beach vibes of relaxation, a momentary escape, good memories, great times and the way salt water seems to rejuvenate your soul. This is the foundation and inspiration for the Naiad brand.
The majority of my pieces are minimalist in style and can be worn solo or in combination with other pieces to step your look up. Whatever you're in the mood for. My goal is to spread good vibes through my jewelry, and for me there isn't much that can top seeing a customer smile at their new piece.
{P.s. I don't recommend exposing jewelry to salt water or chlorinated water, but it's not the end of the world! Avoid or limit exposure (especially to chlorine and other chemicals) and follow your TLC and cleaning instructions}
