Hi! My name is Apryl, and I’m a nerd for all things flossy!
I first learned to cross stitch when I was just a little girl. I have many memories of stitching up tiny bears, balloons, hearts and stars. Not surprisingly, I outgrew these patterns as I got older, and I completely dropped the hobby when I couldn’t find anything fun and interesting to stitch instead. I re-discovered the craft when I was about 25 years old after finding a copy of Julie Jackson’s, Subversive Cross Stitch, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I guess it took something so simple to make me realize that a little creativity means endless possibilities for even an old craft like cross stitch.
I started designing my own cross stitch patterns about three years ago after a friend asked me to help her make a custom piece as a gift. Before I knew it, I had made multiple patterns to be stitched as handmade gifts for all of our friends. I’ve been working ever since to make interesting, unique and funny cross stitch patterns, spending hours each week either making patterns or stitching in front of the TV.
I opened my Etsy shop one year ago at the suggestion of a few friends. At the time, I didn’t imagine much would come of it, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. My customers have been very supportive and wonderful, inspiring me to design more patterns, grow my shop, and plan for the future. I want to thank each and every one of my customers for being so awesome. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of the positive emails, messages, and feedback I’ve received. Although my story is new, I expect it to grow and expand with my shop as I provide new and different products in the coming years. I hope you will continue to love my shop and all I have to offer.
