Doing What I Love
I've been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon and creating artwork is what I love. Artwork for me holds many different meanings and values depending on the piece itself and doesn't fall in to one necessary category. Some artwork I create to attempt to capture the beauty in something, be it a fish, a flower, or wildlife. Other times, it's to capture the ugliness which is a part of this world as well. Or finally it's to bring someone joy doing commissioned pet portraits, often working with poor, old, grainy photos and attempting to recreate the look and life of a deceased furry family member.
I draw for myself. I draw for the world. I draw for you.
Jewelry on the other hand started in my teens. I started beading as a hobby and then got a job at a jewelry shop. I learned the ins and outs of turquoise while working at a little mom and pop owned Native American jewelry store and the southwestern feel of the work there has influenced a lot of my designs.
