Owners and Origins
MxTake and MxMarmite are a couple in the UK who both love to craft.
Tyler (MxTake) is a 33 year old disabled, gay, trans person. He has made lots of different things such as dice coffins, trinket boxes, and various paintings. He is now working with Kai on their joint endeavour of cold process soap making!
Kai (MxMarmite) is a 26 year old disabled, bisexual, non-binary trans person. They work in healthcare usually, but also love to craft. Kai has a background predominantly in digital art, but also has worked on clay figurines, sewing, and many more projects. Now they are making soap alongside MxTake and loving every moment.
MxTake's previous shop, Making MxTakes was named for the pun, and a little bit of truth was added! This was where MxTake sold their coffins, and other resin products you will see in the reviews. This isn't something completely off the table right now, but with the price of resin soaring it became unfeasible to continue for the foreseeable.
Aidy's Soap Shack was not intended to be anything other than the name for the project MxTake and MxMarmite embarked on together following the death of their partner Aidy in July 2020. The cabinet used for the first batch of soaps (and now all fragrance oil soaps) once belonged to Aidy and he requested that someone have it who would use it for something meaningful. Tyler and Kai decided it was the perfect place to house the brand they named in his honour.
However, when the name was first formulated they didn't realise the acronym. It was only a few months in that Kai realised and brought it to Tyler's attention. Now it is a running joke, and they are sure that Aidy would have loved it.
All credit for photos on the shop right now goes to Fish Outta Water Films, Kale and Dory have done a fantastic job and we are so grateful for their expertise.
