Hi I’m Karen, mum of 3 and I’m the owner/creator of Truly Gifts.
I live in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside in a lovely riverside town amongst all my friends and family.
Ive been in sales since I left school in 1986, I love the idea of helping a customer find the product they need and leave with a smile on their face.
Outside of work I love nothing better than a car boot sale on a Sunday morning. I used to go selling with my Dad when I was a teenager and I suppose thats where the love of selling came from, customers would come to the table, talk to me about the product and I would happily tell them all about it and of course take the money at the end.
After a few years of different sales jobs I wanted to start my own business so opened up a Market stall selling New Baby Clothes and Baby Hampers in 2000. I loved the business, hated the weather, got really ill one winter and decided it was a bricks and mortar shop or I gave up completely.
Giving up wasn't an option and I opened my first shop in 2006. It's was tiny but we managed and we did so well that I needed to move into something bigger soon after. 2 more moves over the coming years and I was now in a massive shop with humungous overheads but I was in a central location, footfall was fantastic and I loved it!
Sadly about 2 years later the tenant in the flat above left a tap running and flooded my entire shop, I didn't insure it for enough and lost thousands. Then not long after, the stock that I salvaged got stolen when I had a break in. That was it! I walked away and vowed never to open a business again.
I went to work in Babies R Us. I showed them my knowledge and talent with stock and customers and very quickly rose to Manager. Sadly you all know the demise of Toys R Us and again I was looking for another position.
I felt lost and without purpose and I yearned for my business back again so started back in business just doing Baby Gifts in 2016. I'm at home now and I can make my business as big or small as I want and can help more customers find that perfect Nappy Cake or Baby Hamper that they just cant find on the high street by making it more personal.
In 2022 I added more personalised baby gifts and during 2026 and beyond, I will be adding Pregnancy and Mum to Be gifts too.
I strive to make the most beautiful Baby Gifts & Hampers for you to give to friends/family/colleagues when they are expecting a baby.
Over the years I have won a total of 5 Nursery Industry Awards for my business and my products.
These gifts are perfect for a centrepiece for a baby shower and i have numerous themed gifts to help match colours/style.
