Uncaged Wristbands - wearable creations for the champagne, craft beer and beverage crowd
My childhood was filled with arts and crafts yet I was directed to do something else with my career. So, I settled into advertising and marketing dabbling in jewelry as a hobby. But the art did not leave me, I continued with jewelry-making classes now and again; casting metal, setting stones, polishing, shaping and collecting tools. I enjoy using my hands to design and fabricate different types of metal with a desire to re-purpose, re-use and recycle scrap materials including old leather. One (wo)man's junk is another's treasure ;-)
At a beer tasting event, I began to collect the metal caps and cages from 22-oz bottles. I began to engineer an idea. Friends and associates began to save their caps from beer, champagne..those metal caps and cages began to be something..wearable wristbands!! A friend asked if I could make a wristband from a Vueve Clicquot champagne cap that was a memento from a trip to France. In marketing, I had found a target audience based on customer want.
And that is how it all started...
My mission, be Creative With Purpose. I've studied design, painting, metal fabrication, photography, textiles and a variety of other creative disciplines. My biggest thrill is using a special item and creating a custom piece that the wearer receives oodles of compliments on.
If I can make another person feel special, I've found my purpose.
