A Long Road to the Right Track
♥ TRANSFORMATION ♥
The butterfly has long been a symbol of transformation. What begins as a caterpillar emerges from the cocoon and spreads wings of rainbow brilliance. We too can make changes in life that take us to new found paths.
Like most, I am often inspired by nature. I love shells, starfish and anything related to the beach. I love, love trees and anything rustic and weathered. I am inspired by color, nature, clay and cooking. Beyond that I am obsessed with animals, miniatures and anything fun and cute.
In my teens I dreamed of going to art school, but in my early 20's I got married and let go of all thoughts to be in a creative field, passing it off as just childhood dreams. I started and built a commercial cleaning company growing it to be a 7 figure business. Outwardly I was very successful, inwardly I was extremely unsatisfied. During this time, I got married to my husband Ty. We had two beautiful children. By the time our 2nd child came, my dissatisfaction with my work life had grown unbearable. After 17 years in business I closed the doors.
At this point I wasn't sure where to go. I started painting and restoring décor pieces I found at local thrift shops. I started taping into the creative side of my personality but I was still lost...…
My son's first grade teacher was constantly sending home art projects for the kids to do. It annoyed me because my son had no interest in art and it was a struggle to get him to participate. For St. Patrick's Day she had a pretend Leprechaun stealing things from the class room and the art project was to make a Leprechaun Trap. I was extremely annoyed because I had a lot going on, I resentfully proceeded to make this trap. Out of my frustration I designed and built this elaborate trap with moss, a treasure chest with fake jewels, signs and a tree made from branches and leaves me and my son collected from outside. The trap was a rope made from string. My son helped a little, lol.
We took it to school and I was surprised at the attention it received. Kids from all grades were stopping us to look at it, making comments as we walked by and my son's teacher loved it. From that point I was hooked. I had discovered this creativity in me I did not know existed. Thank you Mrs. Wilson for helping me find myself!!!
I married my business side to my creative side and finally...…..I'm on the RIGHT TRACK!!!
Fast forward 16 years later and now I sell both handmade items and I sell ready made tiny miniature animal figure craft supplies. Additionally, I sell printed items that I have graphically designed.
Next to come...my daughter Sadie 18. She is an incredible sketch artist and a current student at the UNCSA Filmmaking school, and I hope to help her have her own shop one day.
