Thank you. The elk hide is great. I do like the thickness and there are no big gashes to the hide. I thought it was brain tanned but this one was bark tanned apparently. Should work well for some shoes and other hearty items, possibly a vest.

I work full time as a traditional hide tanner.

Traditional wet-scrape style braintan (smoked and white hides)

For the last ten years I have had my hands on deer and elk skins almost every single day. Cracking skulls for brains, scraping, stretching, working, and smoking hides in the cottonwoods along the Gila River on SW New Mexico.

These days I do about 200 hides a year and provide buckskin to many of the professional beadworkers and quill artists in the western U.S as well as artists doing museum re-creation pieces.

I can do white ceremony hides w/ ears and tail upon request

It is my belief that I tan the highest quality hides available
