Since my childhood I have been creating and building unique ways to live my life. Though initially I never recognized that's what was happening. Now a bit older I look back and there has been an overriding theme of creation, of artistry, of designing and building along with the recognition of my contemporaries negotiating me into situations where those talents could be best used.

As a skilled craftsman, specifically a Bricklayer for 34 years, I have always been on structures which required an attention to detail along with a need for artistic excellence. I still maintain a connection to this trade by Teaching the next generation the “Art of Masonry”.

In 2004 I formally resigned my full-time commitment to Masonry to pursue my endeavor to sculpt. At first, I used my masonry skills to create from stone and concrete, as time went on, I started moving into creating with clay.

One over-riding theme I have had as a philosophy is the statement “Jack of all trades, Master of none” not to imply that there aren’t those who are highly skilled in multiple disciplines. Yet I have been one to focus on the concept of being a “Master” … My focus is simply on hand building spheres, to the extent that my connection to such reaches a level of intimacy. Often when I do Art shows other ceramic artist imply that my spheres are slip-cast, I inquire as to why they think this is so, they reply because they are so exacting. I find this very flattering in that none of my work is slip-cast nor could I execute this exactness by using that process.
