About us.
I started with explanations to the neighbors that the house was not on fire. Well, I REALLY started with the nutty idea that I could roast coffee at home, and THEN I spent a lot of time yelling out, "it's okay! nothing's burning!" as local heroes, seeing the smoke, sprinted into the backyard to rescue me. I live in a really great neighborhood and there are LOTS of heroes. Now they are customers (or skeptical on-lookers).
The wedding favors were a total accident and so was finding Etsy but I'm very open to happy accidents around here. I made coffee favors for a friend's wedding, as a gift, and couldn't find small, nice looking bags so I made my own. Then another friend wrote "look up Etsy" on a napkin one evening at my favorite bar over a glass of wine, and now here I am selling coffee wedding favors on Etsy when I previously could barely turn on a computer and always shied away from weddings and other scary, big events.
Most exciting is that the business has grown and allowed me to open a coffee shop in Richmond's downtown business district. My first purchase was a larger roaster to keep up with our orders! Now each morning I'm slinging lattes and catching up with the regulars until noon, when I begin roasting and assembling favors in the back room of the shop. The best days are when all the doors are wide open and it's busy and you can smell coffee roasting for blocks. I'm exceedingly lucky to do what I want to do every day and I never forget it.
