And decoupage art came into my life...
I started doing decoupage, art work, when my daughter was in preschool...10 years later and here we are. Decoupage is a form of adhering photos, magazines, paper and more to a surface with a special glue and sealant. It creates the look of the photos actually being a part of the piece. I fell into it by chance and not choice. Truth be told...I disliked the work at the start. I was asked, by my daughter’s preschool teacher, to create a piece for their annual school dinner and auction. I was terrified to say the least; as this was to be the main piece auctioned off and would carry my name with it forever. Many questions came to mind...what would I create, how would I create it and my biggest question...what if the art was a complete failure??!! Having a love for Andy Warhol’s work was the inspiration for my very first creation. I took pictures of all of my daughter’s classmates along with my daughter. I edited, cropped and turned each picture a different color. Andy Warhol’s infamous Marilyn Monroe’s painting would be what I would attempt to capture. Upon auction day, we had a very large black canvas, adhered to a very vibrant green frame with all the student’s photos. It was a success...in my heart; but, what would everyone else think??!! As the item came up to bid on, I held my breath; slowing starting out at $15!! After all was said and done; a couple purchased the piece for $660 and donated it back to the school where it still hangs to this day. I am honored and very humbled by this. Lets just say; I had found my niche. I soon after wanted to start selling my custom art and customize art for others...A Raven’s Dreams~ was born. The name was chosen from my love of the poet Edgar Allan Poe.
I hope you love my art as much as I love creating it. Thank you for stopping by my shop and all the love and support through these years and God willing...Many more :)
Happy shopping!!
