From Studio to Soul: The Story Behind Sarah’s Artistry 🌟
Sarah’s journey began not with a business plan, but with a deep, intuitive pull toward beauty. As a child, she was the one who lingered over color palettes, who saw stories in shadows, and who believed that even the smallest handmade card could carry magic. That belief never left her—it simply evolved.
Her first art career bloomed in the world of large abstract paintings, where she sold to interior designers who sought pieces that could transform spaces. But Sarah wasn’t just painting walls—she was painting emotions, movement, and memory. Her work was bold, expressive, and deeply personal. Yet something inside her whispered: share more, teach more, connect more.
So she became an art teacher. In classrooms filled with watercolor stains and laughter, she found her calling—not just in creating, but in empowering others to create. Whether guiding children through their first brushstrokes or helping adults rediscover their creative voice, Sarah infused every lesson with her signature blend of technical mastery and emotional storytelling.
Today, she creates art every single day. Her studio is a sanctuary of celestial motifs, nature-inspired textures, and mystical metaphors. From poetic card kits to beaded bracelets that shimmer like constellations, each piece is designed to evoke wonder and invite reflection. Her work isn’t just decorative—it’s devotional. It’s about helping people feel seen, inspired, and connected to something deeper.
Sarah’s process is rooted in ritual. She begins with intention, often journaling or sketching to channel her ideas. She lets intuition guide her hand, trusting that the materials will speak. Her designs are layered with meaning—garden metaphors, moon phases, and quiet affirmations that remind us to slow down and savor.
Through her workshops, Substack essays, and growing online presence, Sarah is building a creative community that celebrates authenticity and emotional resonance. She’s not just selling products—she’s offering experiences. Invitations to pause, reflect, and create.
Her Etsy shop is an extension of this ethos. Every item is crafted with care, designed to be both beautiful and meaningful. Whether it’s a mystical art print or a storytelling-inspired craft kit, Sarah’s creations carry her signature blend of heart and craft.
She believes that art is not a luxury—it’s a lifeline. And she’s here to share that lifeline with you!
Thank you for your tremendous support of my products. I am an independent artist creating all my items by hand.
I am Sarah Butcher and I am excited to bring you my original art, DIY kits and art inspired note cards. Thank you for the wonderful response to my kits and art!
I have been adding more original art to my shop. I love to create art and decor for your home. I think art work adds the human element and defines you and your space. My painting are like a handwritten note from me to you.
Even a small note card on your desk can bring a smile to your face and uplift your mood.
I design my own papers for my card kits. I create all of my products in my small home studio. Designing kits and making art is definitely therapeutic for me. I think making art is an essential activity that everyone should try to do.
When I am not making art and cards for “Art and Type” I am teaching creative workshops or art to middle school students in a small private school in Baltimore City, Maryland.
Art and Type was started as a joint project between my dad and me. He loved entrepreneurial ventures. We were always scheming ideas in the summer when I would be on break from my teaching job. He passed away in 2017. In addition to my arts and crafts we sold typewriters which was his mainstay in business for 60 years. THough I do nogt have typewriters any longer, I keet the nsme to honor him.
It’s a balancing act to teach full time and pursue my art business, but I’m following my bliss and it is a joy. I hope you find something to enhance your creative life at Art & Type!
