Color and feelings with a healthy dose of nerd
From a confused teenager to a full time artist; My Etsy shop has seen the entire Journey! I opened my shop in 2009 with the hopes of making and selling jewelry made from hand painted wooden beads. At the time I was just as lost as any other 19 year old and Etsy was a totally different space back then. I had no idea what I was doing! But I loved it nonetheless and kept on learning.
While I was in college, I closed up my shop from 2010 - 2014 while figured out my major and direction. I knew I wanted to be creative and work for myself, but how does that translate into a bachelor's degree? After switching my major a bunch of times, I finally landed on ceramics. The clay and the ceramics community captured my heart right away. I started listing the occasional batch of pots here in between indie markets and exams.
After graduating in 2015, I started taking this much more seriously as I knew this is what I wanted to do. Since my friend's kiln wasn't always accessible, I would use watercolor and illustrations as a creative outlet in between the many periods of waiting in the ceramics process.
I slowly started to gain traction, both here and on instagram. Once I sold out of my rainbow cloud mugs and my dice mugs after numerous shop updates, I knew it was time to get my own digs. That brings us to today! I still carry a small collection of goods here on Etsy, but most of my pottery is now on averiverastudio.com. Throughout all of the iterations of my art, it has always been about color and feelings with a healthy dose of nerd.
