Hi, I am Sarah and I have found my passion for crocheting. I first learned how to crochet from my Grandma when I was a little girl. I remember loving that I could make something out of a pile of yarn. Mostly I made clothes and blankets for my Barbie dolls.
Then the teenage years hit and crocheting wasn't "cool" anymore so I put the yarn and hooks away. As life continued I often thought about crocheting but I was either too busy or too tired. So I continued daydreaming about what I could make but never actually making it.
May 2018 dealt my family a terrible blow. My handsome, young, vibrant, husband was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 Esophageal cancer. The world stopped and crashed upon us all at once. He had to endure a year of intense treatment. During that treatment I could only concentrate on getting through each day and making sure he was taken care of along with our son. Days bled into weeks and soon I didn't know where I started or ended. I needed something to concentrate on besides the big C. Something that I could mindlessly do but that would also help me stay calm.
Enter CROCHETING! We were at my mother in law's and I asked if she had some crochet hooks and yarn and she said yes. I picked them up and haven't put them down since. Being able to pick up a skein of yarn and being in control of what I could create was more therapeutic than I would have ever thought. I finally was doing something I could control and that helped me deal with all the things happening in my life that I could not. Luckily, my family fought like crazy against my husband's cancer and we have won so far. He has been cancer free for 2 years now and feeling great!
Once we got through the main fight of cancer the world was hit with Covid. Along with it came the lockdown. At first it seemed horrible but it turned out to be not so bad for our family. I was able to keep working as I already worked from home and my job was still secure. We became closer as a family and suddenly we had all of this time. I used that time to increase my inventory. I did not know what I had planned for everything I was making. I only knew how happy it made me to make these things.
After many months of thinking how I could somehow sell these I finally took the plunge and made my Etsy shop; CozyCrochetwithLove!
I would call myself an intermediate crocheter who still has a lot to learn. When I first started crocheting again I was just doing the most basic thing I could so I could mindlessly do it. Now that life is not so turbulent I have gradually started to venture out. The main items that I make right now are hats and scarves but I am starting to try other items like ear warmers, mug warmers, and anything else that hits my fancy. As I make them, you will see them (as I get time to upload them).
I hope you all enjoy my shop as much as I enjoyed making these items. Please reach out if you have any questions on anything.
Thank you for stopping by!
