Hi, it's me, I'm the problem, it's me. (Me being Courtney, founder of Da Shayna Punims).
So here's the thing ... I love to kvetch. But also, who doesn't. If someone tells you they don't love a good complaining session, they are lying to you. While I try not to make it a habit to complain all the time, one thing that I have always griped about is the lack of Hanukkah decorations. Every year, without fail, I go into Target, search high and low for the Hanukkah section, and then complain about the size of the section and the selection itself.
And that's just Hanukkah. I could go on and on about the lack of holiday decor for other Jewish holidays.
So, after years of complaining, I decided to do something about it.
What's with the name? Well, shayna punim translates to "pretty face," and it was something my dad would call me all the time growing up, and still does. I have three kids, who are my shayna punims. The "da" is because we live in Chicago and while not a Bears fan, I had to give a nod to the city our company was born in.
With this company, we hope to join the Jewish makers out there who are bringing more Jewish joy into the world. Why? Because everyone, Jews and non-Jews alike, could use a little less oy, and a little more joy.
