I guess I just really like rockstars.
My career as a photographer started around the time I decided to sneak my camera into shows by way of my shirt (lens in the cleavage)--all because I loved taking pictures. I started posting them here and there, and more and more, people would tell me I needed to take my hobby seriously. Eventually, I chose to do just that.
I spent several years shooting the live show, chasing my heroes, occasionally interviewing my heroes, and subjecting them to what I like to call guerrilla portraiture (the request, two frames snapped, and the hope that one of them makes a great photo). You'll find some of that here in my shop.
I don't shoot shows so much these days, unless I'm going to see a band I really love. I've also gone back to working my camera in where I can, as opposed to dealing with PR types and photo passes and guest lists. It's nice to shoot from the front lines, but it's more of a challenge this way.
Rockstars aside, I'm incredibly fond of the city I live in. It is ever-changing. It keeps my sense of wonder alive. You'll find some of that here in the shop. And in the spring, when things get warmer, the flowers that sprout in bursts of color where weeks before, everything seemed cold and dead? You'll find some of that here in the shop, too.
I currently spend most of my time working on Live Through This (http://livethroughthis.org), a project that pairs the stories and portraits of suicide survivors in an attempt to buck the fear of and taboo associated with suicide.
