From the Renaissance Faire to the History Channel...
Devonshire Organics is a family legacy business created by Chemist, Researcher and Forest Wizard James Hershberger in 1967.
Translating medieval and ancient scrolls, James, whom everyone called “Hersh”, created recipes, using the information he found in his research in conjunction with his knowledge of chemistry, that allow us to bring you these remarkable scents and self-care secrets of the ancients.
Hersh brought Devonshire to the very first season of the Texas Renaissance Festival in 1975. The company continued vending at the TRF for many years and went on to establish flourishing shops at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, the Bristol Renaissance Faire and the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, among others.
Devonshire became a Renaissance Festival “Name Brand” in soaps and incense under Hersh and his daughter Keridwyn, who took on the family business after his retirement.
Keridwyn expanded the reach of the Devonshire brand and the breadth of its product line and was featured on the History Channel’s Modern Marvels:, Bathroom Tech II episode.

Moving overseas to focus on her new adventure, Wandering Moon Retreats, Keridwyn entrusted the business to Araris Dresden, who is handcrafting the Devonshire product using the traditional Hershberger family recipes.
