About Me and How I Make My Jewelry
About Me and How I Make My Jewelry
My name is Robert Spickard. I use the ancient & venerable lost wax process to create my jewelry in solid sterling silver or solid bronze. I set only real stones into my jewelry pieces. My work is noted for its high quality & meticulous finishing. I don’t scrimp on materials or labor. I create & cast both original design & historic reproduction jewelry pieces.
One of the editors at Make, the publishers of Make Magazine and promoters of Maker Faire, asked my wife and me to write a couple of articles for their online magazine, Makezine. These articles, including photos of my tools and equipment, explain what I do and how I do it.
The first one is Introduction to Lost Wax Casting, which you can see here: http://makezine.com/2015/07/20/introduction-lost-wax-casting/
The second is Learn Mold Making Basics for Jewelry: http://makezine.com/2015/10/29/learn-mold-making-basics-jewelry/
