Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my shop! My name is Jarod Cox and I am a Berea College graduate with a bachelors in studio arts. I became interested in jewelry at a young age, often sculpting beads from the Kentucky clay that I found in Fishing Creek, and beginning the rock collection of locally sourced geodes that I now incorporate into some of my work. While in college, I took a labor position at Berea that helped me learn the basics of metalsmithing under mentor Tim Glotzbach. I then had the privilege to continue my work through the 123 Gallery as part of an Accelerated Artists Program in Berea before becoming a full time artist.

Having grown up in Kentucky, I often find inspiration for my pieces in the creeks and forests. Some of my work features blue herons, one of my favorite local birds that I often see on my treks throughout the creeks. As a lapidary artist as well as a metalsmith, I often take stones such as Kentucky agate that I find in the creeks, cut and polish them to set in my handcrafted bezels. Each piece is meticulously planned and handcrafted individually, resulting in beautiful works of art that hold with them the resilient spirit of Appalachia.

My goal as an artist is to incorporate elements of home into unique jewelry that can become family heirlooms, gifts for loved ones and special pieces to hold dear.

My pieces have been featured in the Kentucky Artisan Center, the Log House Craft Gallery, and the 123 Gallery. I have participated in Kentucky Crafted, Berea Makers Markets, Lexington Makers Markets, Spoonbread Festival, the Berea Craft Festival as well as several others.
