Building to improve a really fun hobby.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Eastern Canada and loved putting my hands to work whether it was helping my dad fix something or making presents for Christmas. After high school I decided that I wanted to go to college for music and ended up with a Bachelor of Arts and a k-12 music education degree. My wife and I moved to sunny Southern California to teach in a small Christian school. The house that we were renting had a nice little garage to tinker in where I could build a few simple items and try out some YouTube skills. But being newly out of college, newly married, and teaching at a small Christian school doesn't allow for big lumber purchases, so I would find pallets that I would rip apart, clean up, and then build with. My wife would let people know that I could build things and friends would ask me to build something for them and I would happily build for them. When a need rose up for organizing wine bottles, eggs, books, or essential oils my wife would describe an idea she thought would work and I would build it for her. What you see in the shop are a few of those items.
My wife and I decided to move to New Jersey where her family is, start a family of our own, and I decided to change professions and become a carpenter. I now work full time building with my hands and am learning new skills and am becoming better everyday.
