KOWAI's story ~ indie stationery + handmade weird art
KOWAI is a project by artist MORBID that focuses on original, independently designed stationery & handmade goods. I take inspo from Y2K anime/early internet aesthetics, otaku culture and internet weirdness circa 2006~2010, japanese subcultures like menhera, lolita, and visual kei, and horror. i love making weird stuff!
i have been making art for 18 years, and started KOWAI 3 years ago as a way to share my hobby and love of creating strange, kawaii, and creepy works of art with the world.
every item in the KOWAIGOODS shop starts with a sketch in my sketchbook. i save the best ideas to make stickers, prints, apparel, and stationery items. notepads, vinyl sticker sheets, and apparel are designed digitally and go to print through one of my production partners; my partners are small businesses based in the USA. my stickers, prints, and small accessories are completely handmade by me from start to finish in my home office. you can check out some of my processes on youtube @kowaimorbid .
