Latisha Baker Artworks is a small family owned creative handmade art business based in Oakland, CA. We are relaunching our Etsy account to focus on our understated and intentional notecard collection only. In a world of busyness and angst, we thought it is the right time to introduce our notecards to this space. Why are our notecards different? Our collection was launched in 2010 and we have been delighted to sell them on our website and to local customers at arts and crafts fairs. We eliminated the background noise, with images, colors and random graphics that are typically oversaturated in stationery and can be overwhelming. We have found that customers appreciate the minimalist background, simple hand gesture with a message that resonates for themselves or another person. The paper is 90% recycled paper pulp, so the texture is tactile and perfect for writing. We find that our customers are less likely to stash our cards in a drawer, but display them as gentle reminders. Thank you for visiting our shop and let us know what you think!

Latisha Baker Artworks is a one-woman shop with cheering support from my husband, my teenager and two cats named Robin and Ruby. I started 23 years ago making jewelry and transitioned to becoming a visual artist when I taught myself pyrography almost 2 decades ago. I am also a writer, but I am focusing on my Ear Cookies in my Etsy shop, because of an increased interest and I want to connect with a broader audience. Why the name Ear Cookies? Because of the shapes, the heating element and the process of creating an ear cookie. After the earring is burned, I may embellish the earrings with an ink brush. The earrings are coated with olive oil to darken the wood and are preserved with a non-toxic polymer finish, which seals the earring so it is water resistant.
