It all started when I was happily employed as a paralegal at a local law practice. Now as we all know life is what happens when we're busy making other plans.
STEP ONE: While I was content working in my chosen profession, it became apparent that a very close family member required more of my time and care. The 9-5 work day simply could not offer the flexibility I needed to meet my family commitments. I made the difficult decision to tender my resignation and step away from the corporate world.
STEP TWO: One problem was solved as I now had plenty of time to devote to family, however, I was now left with several more problems such as what in the world I could do to still earn an income. I also knew that I had to have some sort of employment and creative outlet in order to feel good about myself. The question became what to do, what to do? I needed to come up with something fulfilling but ultra flexible as well. I thought long and hard and also considered that I have always loved to work with my hands. I learned to sew, knit and crochet as a child but with the exception of sewing I had not done either of the other two in years. I love to cook and I am the nut job that carves roses out of tomatoes to garnish a platter but catering was out of the question. Then one day I was walking around a local craft store and I came upon a collection of looms, so many to choose from!! I decided then and there that I was going to teach myself to loom.
STEP THREE: I jumped in with both feet and have not looked back. First came hats and then baby booties and then tutu dresses and skirts. I have learned and honed my craft and take great pride in the pieces I create. The fibers, stitches and patterns are limitless, I have even created some of my own stitch patterns. Looming Madness was born out of necessity but has become my passion!! Each piece is special with much thought going into fiber choice, stitch choice and pattern choice. I have created this Etsy shop and I also vend at select craft festivals. This is everything I never knew I wanted but want it I do!!
