The Evolution of My Darling Plum
I was always that girl in school, doodling incessantly, waging my war against boredom. Creating characters became my specialty, whether the subject was fruit, dinosaurs or my teachers.
My love of bringing my felt creatures to life began when my thrifty high school self started making felt pins rather than buying them online. During college, I discovered how fulfilling felt crafting was. Forget buying a boring, run of the mill item at a store; I could make anything I wanted!
When I was faced with an unplanned semester off of college and only a part-time tutoring job, I didn't know what to do with all of my extra time. I started crafting again, and I loved it! And then one day it hit me, why not sell all the things that I've been creating? I spontaneously signed up for Etsy, and Heartfelt by MsMegas was born. And, boy, did I seriously underestimate the process that this would become. Desiring to make my shop more cohesive and professional, I recently revamped everything to create the new My Darling Plum. I'm excited about the shop's new look and products.
I've only been running this shop for a couple years, but I've learned SO much already. I can't wait to keep learning more and expanding. My initially impulsive idea to sell a few items has turned into a passion for growing my business into a long-term success.
My shop is based on the belief that cute items make everyday life a little more fun! I design and sketch all of my items with ultimate adorableness in mind. Then I go shopping for the perfect felts, eye-catching fabrics, and super soft premium stuffing to make my creations come to life. Next, I sit in my favorite comfy spot to cut and sew, and in a few hours I've created something wonderful for my shop. After my creation has come to life, I type up a pattern to share with you all.
One of my favorite parts of my business has become talking with customers. The personal nature of the interaction between buyer and seller is one of the best aspects of buying handmade. It's something you just don't get in a store!
