Nimble Fingers Keepsakes, Primitive Folk-Art Original OOAK Cloth Dolls and Animal Dolls
I have been designing and needle sculpting dolls for over thirty years..My dolls are Original and are totally designed by myself, Gerri Drobot..Some of my dolls are round headed with a separate body and some are one piece head and body.. I begin needle sculpting the head with long needles and tailors thread..This gives the head nice dimension and contours including the brow line, nose, cheeks and chin..I use manly folk-art hand painting techniques to get just the right expressions, shadings and accents giving each doll a unique personality..The delicate hands and sometimes bare feet are also needle sculpted to get the hands to gently cup and the toes to look so real..
The materials I use for my doll outfits are the best quilters fabrics in homespun, and cottons..I do process some of my material by hand dying to get just the right tones and shades..My doll clothes are carefully hand tailored and fit each doll to perfection..At times I will use vintage children's clothing or accent pieces I find at estate sales and antique shops in the New England area..
Doll making is my passion, I work on them from early morning and sometimes into the late night..My biggest desire is for my customers to open the boxes and gently turn down the tissue to discover a Primitive piece of art which will put Sunshine in their life and a smile on their face each time they glance over at their new addition..
At this time I am selling my dolls on Etsy..My dolls are so time consuming that I can only finish one a week if I am lucky..I do take Special Orders if time permits..If you have any suggestions for dolls or animals please let me know and I will get right back to you..
