Who is 92joules
Hi! I'm Andy. A queer, disabled jewelry maker residing in the greater Seattle area, inspired by the weird and taboo with a dash of nature and the beauty that can be found there.
A rockhound turned lapidariest who specializes in cutting my own cabochons and more recently, faceted stones. I like to feature local stones found in the PNW or rough stones purchased from local sellers to try to stay as ethical in the crystal business as possible.
With cutting my own stones has oresented me with a unique challenge: finding settings that fit freestyled stones. Learning how to silversmith was the obvious next step for me. The price of silver is keeping me from being too adventurous at this time, but I do hope to expand more on this in the future. Maybe even tackle other metals.
I like to turn junk into treasure and have quite a few items that have been upcycled with uranium glass or gemstones to give new life to pieces that would otherwise have been thrown away, lost in a box or melted down.
I try to recycle when I can, and use as little waste as possible. It is not uncommon for me to re-use boxes I have picked up along the way. I keep my packaging simple, you won't find a bunch of razzle dazzle in your envelope that will ultimately be thrown away. I am always looking for new ways to be more ethical and more sustainable.
I see beauty in death, and will feature bones when I am able to source them. I believe in continuing the beauty even in death and letting the animal live on in art and cherished by its new owner. Any bones I use in my art have either been found by myself, or from verified ethical sellers. I am very into using as many parts of an animal as possible, but do not support killing animals just for their bones/skins.
I am working to expand my art into custom orders including memorial/cremation jewelry and would love to discuss ideas you may have.
