My Journey...
When I think about it, making handmade pottery out of stoneware or porcelain, whether it's a teapot, a whimsical coffee cup, or a one-a- kind art piece, has been a life-long creative journey.
It's a journey that started in primary school when I first learned how to knit, crochet, and make my own clothes. I still have the crocheted poncho I made in high school and it's back in style!
Later on, I took a three-year course in haute couture, where I created exclusive custom-fitted clothes, like winter coats and suits.
I also made my own wedding dress! Don't ask if it still fits!
But I wasn't finished.
While pursuing a business degree in university, I made customized pillows, curtains, and chair covers.
Then I took a sharp right turn into paper crafts, then a quick left into needle point and decorative painting.
I have even spent time refurbishing old furniture and antique doors!
So the day I discovered pottery my husband, Mark, wasn’t surprised.
After three years of full-time art and pottery courses, learning glaze technology, and reduction, wood, and raku firing from master potters from around the world, I have finally arrived at a place where I feel I belong.
Today, I draw from all my different artistic expressions and somehow it influences my pottery.
One thing is sure, every piece I make is with the same excitement and passion I had when I was that little girl.
I hope my creations will also bring you many years of pleasure and equally-fond memories.
