When two people have best friends for 15 years, what do they do? They start an art shop together! Lauren and Brendon first met in 8th grade band class and within 3 months were humming songs together while walking down the hallway. After high school, they went to college together, where Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Music Business, Art, and Entrepreneurship and Brendon earned his Bachelor of Social Work degree. Brendon then went on to get his Master’s of Social Work, and just recently finished earning his PhD in Social Work.
After college, Lauren and Brendon had both felt somewhat isolated and as if they could not find a job / skill / craft that made either of them truly happy. Something had been missing. Then, for Christmas 2018, Lauren asked for a button maker and Brendon delivered. Lauren had been making buttons on the side for nearly 6 months before Brendon was asked to design pride buttons through his place of employment. After designing a handful of buttons, he realized that this is something he loved doing. Do you remember the first time you created something and felt proud? This is exactly how it felt. Lauren and Brendon knew that this was their next step, and Presto and Fin’s Art & Design was born in June of 2019!
Now, in 2025, Lauren is the sole owner-operator of Presto and Fin's, though Brendon is still in the background, supporting his best friend through the ups and downs of owning a small business. Currently based in Denver, Presto and Fin's continues to make funny, punny, and inclusive pinback buttons for the queer community and our allies. Lauren also sells buttons and art at craft fairs throughout Denver, and has done 10 markets in 2025 completely solo! Presto and Fin's will not be at any holiday markets this year, but Lauren's looking forward to doing more markets in 2026!
