Careful what you pray for!
My husband and I retired and lived in a motorhome from 1999 to 2008 full time. During those years I took up quilting to make quilted prayer cloths for those in need of prayers. As my skills grew, I purchased an embroidery sewing computer to add scriptures to the cloths. We joined a group of RV folks with United Methodist NOMADS providing labor for agencies that needed help across the country - www.nomadsumc.org
Wanted to make a quilt for the NOMADS annual auction in 2011. Prayed for a design and on Easter Sunday morning 2011 at 4:30 a.m. I awoke with a design. Made it, put it in the auction and God certainly had a purpose for it! It sold for $5,000 for the first quilt and after offering to make another one for the second bidder, he raised his bid to $5,000 as well! Stunned, I came back to our winter location in Arizona to make it. My quilting friends wanted to make it also but that meant I had to make a pattern. I did and that lead to showing it to friends, which lead to someone stating that it looked like rays of hope...wow, a name! Now I have this shop, and more work than I ever dreamed. But I'm sure God gave me the design to help others.
From 2008 until this spring 2015 we spent the winters in an RV Resort in Casa Grande AZ for 6 months each year. The rest of the year we traveled in the motorhome. Then sold it in 2013 and traveled by car to see the kids and grandkids in the summer. Life has a way of changing and we decided to quit traveling so much and purchased a condo in a 55+ community in Aurora CO in May of 2015. Sold our place in AZ and now plan to enjoy a home near our daughter and her family. As a result I have a very nice place to continue my quilt designing and construction of those designs. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. If you happen to be in the area, contact me and let's have a visit!
