Years ago, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, drug induced lupus, crohn's disease, and pernicious anemia from copper toxicity. It was difficult for me to continue my career path which my hope was to open a private practice for counseling psychology. I became so ill I left my day job as an inventory manager at David Yurman and was mostly couch ridden. I needed to do something, so I began experimenting with rugged jewelry as I had seen Johnny wearing simple designs and for years, I wanted to replicate the look and durability...so I asked him how. He showed me and Rugged Elements grew out of one Sodalite leather necklace he was wearing! It was started as a men's line but now is unisex. Our designs focus on the natural cut stones themselves and highlight their beauty and healing frequency power. We love the minimal sleek but rugged boho style.
Over time, I have treated myself with natural herbs and other remedies thus allowing myself to function though I still have arthritis and swelling in my hands, dizziness, fatigue, and shortness of breath some days. I do my best and that's what counts. In 2019, I went through The Thrive Programme for a debilitating phobia I'd also had since I was 5 and finally overcame it! I loved the TTP because it is everything traditional psychology is not. I decided to train over 1.5 years now to become a licensed coach and am a week away from becoming official. Our mental and physical health is intertwined and though we may have cancer, chronic pain, etc we can still live every single day the best we can and optimize our mental health! The Thrive Programme changed everything for me in terms of my health and happiness so now I want to give back. This will become my main source of income as RE is awesome but only a small portion of what I need to live. I also opened up a luxury rugged shop called Rugged Life Handmade Jewelry on Etsy which I'm still filling up! I am on Makerplace and have a Shopify store with exclusive pieces as well. I love handmade and I love nature and adventure and try to get out into the wild whenever I can physically.
