Hammering out a living
Fishing in Alaska I found an anvil on Akutan island and traded 6 steaks and a quart of whiskey for the anvil.We brought this anvil back to Maine and I slowly started to stop fishing and began full time to work in metal.
Now after 30 years my wife and I are still working with our hands . She sits at a loom and weaves and I hammer out metal items for the home and garden.It has been a life long committment
We have a workshop/gallery set-up here in Maine and can be found in galleries,stores and select shows. I have my shop here on Etsy and it allows me to keep me in touch with customers.
As a small business I can personnally meet with each customers needs and create a custom size or shape .
Few craftsmen are able to lead the life as their work full time as we have and we have been fortunate to do so.. I hope this encourages others to try and find their passion and make it work.
