A Little Bit About Myself
Hello, I'm Debbie. I am a graphic designer. I live and work in Talkeetna, Alaska. I have close to 30 years of graphic design experience: self-employed, in advertising agencies, as an in-house art director for a non-profit... and since 2016, I am freelancing for two fabulous businesses, My Travel Stickers and Eagle River Designs. For them, I create stickers, pins and patches for America's National Parks and other public lands. You should check out their websites.
And now, whenever I find time for my own art projects, I add something new to my Silt & Sticks shop.
My art style is stylized — or maybe one can call it realistic minimalism. I like to use geometric shapes, straight or curved lines to simplify elements in my artwork. Sometimes I add texture.
When a design idea comes to my mind, I often think of creating a series. That way, my customers have more choices and can purchase several pieces that work well together.
Where do I get inspired? I enjoy Alaska's wildlands on foot, in my kayak on lakes, in the raft on a big and silty river, camping and backpacking... Many of my art pieces are influenced by the times I spend in nature. I think it is vital to connect with wilderness. I want to bring those feelings into your home.
I hope you feel a connection to nature as you look at my art, and that it inspires you to enjoy and protect our wild places.
