You've Got Stress? We've Got Serenity?
I originally got interested in making soap and other handmade cosmetics a few years ago when Father's Day rolled around. I have two amazing men in my life. My father who works tirelessly and who is constantly doing everything he can for this family and my husband who is always working so hard to raise our beautiful boys, who both happen to be autistic so I'm sure you can imagine what his days are like. Needless to say they both deserved something very special for Father's Day. However finances have always been an issue for our family of four and therefore I did not have the money I needed to buy them each something special. Therefore I started looking around on the internet for cheap/free gift ideas for Father's Day. Wow, was there a lot of stuff out there but what I kept coming across were DIYs for beard oil/wax, aftershave lotion, pomade, etc. and of course SOAP! I immediately starting doing research and what did I find? An entire community that makes soap and cosmetics from scratch!
I started off by making a few super beginner items for the Father's Day gifts and I enjoyed making them so much that I had to do more! I then discovered the world of melt and pour soap making. I did this type of soap making for about a year or more and played with certain colorants and fragrances and the more research I did on this type of soap making, the more information I began to gather about making homemade, handcrafted soap completely from scratch (cold process & hot process soap making). After about a year of research and watching countless Youtube videos, I finally took the plunge and made my first batch of cold process soap. It was a HUGE success! It turned out beautifully and everyone seemed to want a bar! Most importantly, I LOVED it. It was the most satisfaction I've ever had from creating something with my own two hands. I continued to play with cold process as well as hot process soap making and gathering more ingredients, etc.
It took me a long time to get here. I have always had confidence issues and therefore did not believe that I could ever be successful at anything like this. I finally realized that I should be doing this for me and that success would just be a huge bonus.
Whether your day is just beginning or drawing to it's close, I wanted to enrich those few, precious, moments of solitude while in the bath or shower. My soaps give you something to look forward to and give you a way to treat and pamper yourself. My true desire is to bring comfort to people in this sometimes difficult and wondrous experience we call Life.
