My world was surrounded by murals in my home, art supplies in my mom’s room that I couldn’t touch, and giant sets of art supplies as holiday gifts. I was always the kid who classmates and teachers would go to for decorations or help with visual projects. Somewhere around middle school, I decided to take art more seriously and fought to be in a visual arts class and continued on through high school. An interest in photography grew on me, inspired by a close friend, throughout high school which ended up following me throughout my higher education to get a Bachelor’s in studio art with a concentration in photography from Georgia State University. Now, having graduated, I am exploring artistic interests pretty freely and slowly. I have been working in traditional media taking slow steps to figuring out exactly how I want to map out my journey. In the past year, I have established an Etsy shop for mostly traditional media, began a YouTube channel sharing my work, sketchbooks, and process, and I’ve been growing my Instagram channel. What’s driving me now is how fluid and vague the definition of a visual artist is and using that to my advantage as I explore.
